| Das Projekt liegt gut 20 Kilometer landeinwärts. Wer sich die Zeit nehmen will und gut in Form ist (es geht richtig bergauf- und bergab), der kann an einem freien Tag an den Strand radeln. Der Surfstrand vom Touristenort Jaco ist nicht weit. | The project is situated about 20 kilometres inland. If you have a day off work, want to invest the time and are in good shape (it really goes up- and downhill), you can cycle to the beach. The surfer´s beach belonging to the tourist resort Jaco is not far. | ||||||

| Vor wenigen Jahrzehnten noch war das Gebiet total bewaldet. Die Primärwaldflächen werden mittlerweile immer seltener. In der bergigen Region bieten sich unzählige Ausblicke zum Fotografieren. | A few decades ago the area was still totally forested. The areas of old-growth forest are becoming increasingly scarce. In the mountainous region you find countless views for photographs. | ||||||

| Einige der Täler und Schluchten sind so unzugänglich, dass sich von den Einheimischen kaum jemand die Mühe macht hinunterzusteigen. Für Hobbyforscher sind das traumhafte Nischen. | Some of the valleys and canyons are so inaccessable, that scarcely anyone of the local people takes the trouble to climb down. But they are fantastic ……….. for amateur explorers. | ||||||

| Was der Gegend auf den ersten Blick den Charme der bäuerlichen Landwirtschaft gibt, wie man sie aus dem Alpenraum kennt, ist hier vollkommen fehl am Platz. Trotzdem sieht man immer mehr gerodete Flächen, die als Rinderweide genutzt werden. | The details that give the region the charme of a green, grassy farming area like we know it from the alps, are entirely out of place here. Nevertheless, there´s more and more cleared areas, which are being used as pastures for the cattle. | ||||||

| Das Gras, welches hier Rinder ernähren soll, ist nicht heimisch. Es musste vor Jahrzehnten aus Afrika importiert werden. Auf diesem Hügel wucherte vor 20 Jahren noch üppiger Regenwald. | The grass which is supposed to feed the cattle is not native to Costa Rica. It had to been imported from Africa decades ago. 20 years ago on this hill rainforest was growing exuberantly. | ||||||

| Die Regenwaldinseln im Gelände sind für 'Korridorbauer' extrem wichtig. Häufig finden sich auf den Flecken noch wertvolle und seltene Baumarten, die die kahlgeschlagenen Weideflächen wieder besiedeln würden, wenn nur das Rindvieh ferngehalten würde. Schneller geht die Wiederbesiedlung, wenn mit Pionierbaumarten vorgepflanzt wird. | The rainforest islands in the cleared areas are very important for constructing a biological corridor. Often valuable and rare forest species can be found on the patches, which would recolonise the cleared spaces if only they kept the cattle away from it. The recolonising is faster when there´s pioneering forest species planted first. | ||||||

| So ähnlich soll später einmal möglichst viel der Fläche aussehen. Artenreicher Wald als Lebensraum für bedrohte Tiere, als Lieferant sauberen Trinkwassers und Bodenschützer. | As much as possible of the area shall look similar to this in the end. Forest with much biodiversity, which will be the habitat of endangered animal species and which will provide clear potable water and protect the soil. | ||||||
